Quando i primi bianchi misero piede sul suolo nord-americano trovarono popoli che vi abitavano da sempre, gli indiani. Il contatto tra le due civiltà fu sostenuto dai Nativi Americani che aiutarono i bianchi a sopravvivere in una terra in cui non era facile arrangiarsi.
I bianchi non seppero ripagare la generosità di quei popoli e quello che accadde nei decenni della storia del west è fin troppo noto.
Si trattò di un’infinita serie di ingiustizie che sfociarono in atti di guerriglia o di vere e proprie guerre indiane alla fine dei quali delle 500 Nazioni rimaneva ben poco. Gli indiani, però, provarono a difendersi in ogni modo, mettendosi in evidenza come guerrieri coraggiosi e indomiti.
Noi, in questo speciale, vogliamo dedicare a loro, ai guerrieri che difesero in ogni modo la loro terra, le loro famiglie e il loro stile di vita, la galleria fotografica che segue.
